When it became apparent that "Sorcerer to the Queen" and "Knight Errant" were no longer valid career paths, A. D. Landor worked through 37 other jobs before arriving at writer — among them looking after seals and bears at London Zoo, teaching children to ride, and writing competition scripts for radio. Landor now lives outside London, with a book and music collection that reliably keeps the neighbours from staying long for coffee.
